Dave, Pat, Tim, Livia and I went out today, great day to ride - trails were really good, with a few wet sections. Stuff that was wet a few days ago was pretty dry today. Went out on pretty much all new loops today - unfortunately the GPS dropped in two places, probably missed about 2-3 miles of trail total. Good excuse to go back, eh?

Be a little bit before I get today's ride up - there was some error in the data and the GPS stopped seeing satellites for a bit. Going to try to get it fixed up and get it done. But what a day. Dave, Pat and Tim came out and joined Livia and I for the afternoon. Man, riding Bavington just does not get old.
More road today, tried to get some miles in an keep my cadence up. I'll be blogging all my rides/routes from now on, providing I remember to track them.
So I've been playing around with some GPS tracking software on my Storm and today gave Sanoodi a shot. Gotta say the application and their site is quite slick, not to mention that it just works. I'll have some screen shots up with more details later, but anyway, here's the first route I've tried, on the way to work today:

Well, after playing around with it a bit more I get it. There aren't any Styles for a reason. This isn't really aimed at "Joe Blogger" so to speak. It's designed to help get your latest Social Network site out and off the ground - allowing you to concentrate more on the design of the site rather than the core. Also, a lot of things seem to require more resources - I'm no developer, but I have to wonder if there's memory management problems when MT is trying to connect to one of the various remote services and times/errors out in the response. Hitting MT's memory limit on the server did seem to be rather random, but was most replicable when attempting to add a Service (Facebook, digg, flickr, etc), presumably when MT was trying to contact said Service.
But I do kind of like it. It's a great way to compile a feed of your social networks in one place. But it doesn't really do everything. It doesn't pick up anything from certain services, like AIM for example. It just puts a link to that profile in your profile. Whoopee.
Having said that, Fire Eagle is pretty neat - along with Navicon as a means to update location on the go. More on those later. Maybe.

Really? This is ready for mass consumption? First, Motion seems to be omitted from certain versions of 4.25 (not available in the Pro Commercial version - WTF?!?!) and there are -no- additional styles. The lack of styles isn't the problem, its that people WILL try to change their Styles for their Motion blog. But once you change Styles, there's no way to get back to the original style. Presumably refreshing the templates will work....but...why?
Trying to figure out what it is. Supposed to integrate a bunch of social networking/media sites. Just made available today in 4.25 it looks like. Joy.
Thanks to this weather we've been able to get some good days riding in. Lot of the local trails are mush and mud pits so some new trails were required - Bavington and Cooper's Rock have had great conditions during this thaw out. Cooper's Rock was especially dry and highly recommended. GPS of some sort is also pretty much a requirement for either trail system too.
