Seven Springs Free Downhill Day

gotdirt.jpgWell, just getting back from Seven Springs Free Bike Park weekend.  Just went up for the day.  Had a great time - weather held out nice for the most part. Had one quick downpour which actually worked well for the track, as it quickly dried and got nice and tacky.   Dave and I made it through unscathed, despite hitting up some of the black diamond trails. Overall, I was pretty impressed - the track was pretty smooth and definitely doable on a hardtail.  Most people were talking about that; how well it flowed and how smooth things were.  It was a nice mix of everything, especially some of the parts through the wooded areas, which were rocky, with some nice drop offs and technical sections.

Pretty much rode til our bodies wouldn't let us any more.  Oh,and that picture there?  That was after I  had already previously washed off.  Good dirt.  More pictures to come.  I didn't take any, but Dave got some.  Should be posting those up as soon as he gets them off the camera.  Some staff from 7 Springs was grabbing pictures - does this mean I'm official now?

 

 

stinky_air.jpgTook a demo Kona Stinky Deluxe out.  If all I did was downhill, I'd definitely think about grabbing this.  Bike just felt right.  Could have gone for adjusting the brake/shifter location, but whatever.  The bike was pretty dialed, was a good fit, surprisingly.  Was definitely able to push myself a bit further, was surprised - the suspension didn't soak up launches too much - had no problem with tables/doubles.  Makes me want a plusher fork for my bike for sure.  Still would rather have that 29er though.   Stay tuned for more pictures.  In a day.  Or two.
