Well, some anyways. Got the carpet pulled up in two of the rooms, still have the padding in
the one room - at least the padding is loose from the tacks. That leaves two rooms to rip
up carpet in - only one of which I'm concerned with now. The main bedroom doesn't have
hardwood floors - so I'm going to have to re-do the carpet there, which isn't so bad since I
wanted carpet for the stairs and the upper hallyway/landing area. This way I just have it
all done at the same time.
The hardwood floors dont look too bad - they should be much easier to re-do than at the last
house. That had carpet and padding that was glued down to the entire floor. That sucked to
strip and prep for just sanding. Here this will be stripped just once then sanded.
And in between all that is painting. I have some basic colors picked out for the bedroom
and my media room/office but I still need to get swatches and settle on a color scheme.
Basically what I got right now (and will share) is that my office and bedroom (since they
are ajoined by a door) are going to tie in to one another. They'll be different colors on
the walls, of course...but..you'll just have to wait and see what I mean.
There's also some drywall work to be done - the one room has two doors to no where - there's
drywall on the other side. The one door is right next to a closet and lends itself to an
easy solution - one big-ass closet. The other door, however, I had planned on just taking
down the framing and trim and drywalling over it. Today, whilst ripping out the carpet I
had a better idea - a built-in bookcase/shelving. Since there's about 4-5 inches recessed
into the wall I can make a 10 inch deep bookcase that won't protrude much into the room at
all and it should look pretty cool since the door framing/trim will match all the others in
the room.
That's all for now....more later =D
