President Bush was met with jeers and signs commemorating "National
Impeachment Day" when he spoke at the Kendell Miami-Dade College campus on
Saturday afternoon. Not only was a possible impeachment being supported,
but also the reasons for it as well, with many signs and chants being
geared towards the debacle that is the Iraq war.

Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Kendell Miami-Dade College campus
where President George W. Bush spoke on Saturday afternoon. Roughly 200
protesters were clustered near temporary fences and an estimated 600
altogether spent the better part of the afternoon marching and holding
signs alongside a main road near the college campus.

Raw Story

Too little, too late, perhaps. Regardless, somethign must be done. With
the amount of general shadyness that has endured during Bush's and
Cheney's terms there's bound to be even more reasons for the removal of
the current presidency from power.

Oh Silly Comcast...

Hot on the heals of Comcast's href="http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,18200941~days=9999~start=60">recent
connectivity woes
, which took them 4 hours to admit and 8 hours to
resolve, comes this new leaked information - According to the
Consumerist, Comcast will now be
charging for previously free in-home services:

According to an internal Comcast Powerpoint we received, starting this
month, the cable provider gives even less of a damn about residential
customers.

Highlights include:

  • Comcast technicians will no longer do inside wiring for free in
    single-family homes.
  • Separate fees for wiring and activation.
  • Installations taking over 10 minutes long considered "custom" work
    and subject to new charges

Our tipster says Comcast would, "rather leave the problem open to the
interpretation of the tech and leave themselves open to being able to
    charge $24.95 per trouble call."

    Rest of Story at the
    Consumerist

  • Next, they'll be charging for phone-in tech support. Of course, who knows
whether the answer they'll be giving you will be true or not - they just
want to get you off the phone. I know this by experience, as I used to be
employed by Cocmast as a Level I Tech. To them, call handle time is more
important than the customer actually receiving a resolution. Not only
that, but they were trying to get us to pitch promotions too. That in
itself wouldn't be so bad if it was something that related to my job,
however, they were trying to get us to push digital TV packages and phone
packages of which my knowledge was nill. I do computer support people - I
knew nothing of their TV or Digital Voice services - nor was I trained by
them in such areas. I like to watch TV - but knew nothing about how it
    was billed, set up, etc.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm beyond blessed to be
working for pair Networks and can really
appreciate the way treat their customers AND employees having been where
I've been. If you have Comcast and find that you are fed up with them, I
    HIGHLY recommend href=http://www22.verizon.com/content/ConsumerFios/>Verizon's
    FIOS
    - it comes at a competitive price and has
been blazing fast for the last year I've had it. Not to mention the fact
that there has been no discernable downtime. That's saying quite a lot
since I'm online pretty much 24/7.

NASA evacuated a building at the Johnson Space Center in Houston after a person with a gun was seen and a shot was fired, a NASA spokeswoman said Friday. Brandi Dean said it was not yet known if anyone was hurt. NASA spokesperson James Hartfield told CNN there were gunshots heard in the building. He added NASA security rules do not allow weapons on the property.

What the hell is wrong with people? Come on - the weather is finally breaking - just go out and bask in the sunshine. I repeat, put the guns down and enjoy the warm rays of energy that will pummel your skin. Some people want to blame all this violence on video games *coughJackThompson*cough* just to draw attention to themselves. Why do they have this agenda? The largest killing spree prior to the VT shootings was 1966 - there certainly weren't any violent/bloody games around at that time. How do you explain that? Not to mention that the VT student responsible for the shootings was found to have NO video games at his domecile, let alone any games that were violent in nature. Video games are not the root cause of chaos in this world - it is human beings themselves.

We cannot have order, we cannot have peace. Hell, the United States is a perfect example of that - we've been starting wars and intervening in areas that we have no business being involved in. Why? Because we can. Sometimes, just because you can doesn't mean you should. Its even further complicated by the fact that our figure-head GW believes he is acting in the name of God. *shudder* Since when does God cosign crusades and murder of innocents? Don't think martyrdom - that's is not what is going on here.

The world is in a sad state and we continue to perpetuate it, feed it. Human nature leans towards chaos and we will be the cause of our own undoing.

    Website Design

I was asked to design a web site by a long-time friend of the family for
his business. I decided this would be a good chance to give a shot at my
first scratch-built HTML/CSS site. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how
it turned out; even more so that it was done using only href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source_software>Open-source
    software
    . Tools used include: GIMP
    (GNU
    Imapge Manipulation Program), Nvu (New
    View), and Screem.

Joost has scored a deal with national broadcaster, CBS. Although it is not an exclusive deal, this is a much-needed addition to href=http://www.joost.com/whatson/>Joost's channel lineup. Both AOL and MSN will also be distributing content from CBS through their sites as well. Shows that have been
licensed include CSI, NCIS, and the CBS Evening News.

Not my article, but damnit, it rings so very true - so here it is for your reading pleasure.

    excerpt:

Presidential candidate Ron Paul has warned that the US is now at a crisis point because the people have been so neglectful of protecting their liberties and big government has
been so effective in eroding them. He warned that the elite are prepared to concoct events to scare the American people and asserted that the 2008 Presidential election is a
contest between the people who care about their freedoms and those who are willing to succumb to the temptations of dictatorship.
