Take a look at this
article. If that doesn't get you riled up - then somethings wrong.
What's keeping you from being moved by this story - the fact that it
involves marijuana?
Let's put things into perspective here...Last year, the media and nation
came together over the
Terry Schiavo debacle, with tons of people urging her husband and
doctors to keep her on life support. In the Schiavo case, the woman had been
written off for years due to her coma. There was no hope. At all. Yet,
people still pushed the issue and tried to apply a sense of 'humanity' to
the situation, appealing to our 'softer, gentler' sides, where we are
supposed to empathize with our fellow human beings.
Except for if they're using medical marijuana. These people are pushed
into the same caste as drug dealers and general miscreants. They're
treated as an entire sub-society and are stereotyped beyond belief. Here
in this story, we have a 41 year-old mother of 2 with a life-threathening
illness. She bascially has one shot at holding onto life and being able
to continue her days out a bit longer by using marijuana. No other
lab-created drug is able to help with the pain and her appetite. So just
because we don't have something that's been cooked-up in a lab by some
huge pharmaceutical for millions of dollors, we deny her this
not-so-convential treatment.
The judge has essentialy written her a death sentence. What a sad day
this is. People, law does not define moral code. Laws need to be pulled
out and reviewed from time to time, especially legislation regarding
controlled substances such as marijuana.
